Dorothy was a resident of Caesarea, Cappadocia, who refused to sacrifice to the gods during Emperor Diocletian's persecution. As a consequence, she was tortured by the governor and ordered executed. As she was being led out to be executed, the pagan lawyer Theophilus mocked her virginity, demanding to see the fruits from her Bridegroom’s garden. Before she was executed, Dorothy senta 6 year old boy to Theophilus with her headdress, and when he received it, he found it smelled of fruits and roses. Theophilus was then converted to Christianity, and was martyred himself shortly afterwards.
