This great saint of the New Testament is a legendary example of God’s mercy and forgiveness.
A beautiful Jewish woman, Mary Magdalene was believed to have been possessed by seven demons before Jesus came and cast them out of her. Forever grateful to her Savior, Mary Magdalene was among those women who followed Him during His public ministry.
She was present at Jesus’ Crucifixion and death, and went to His tomb to anoint His body on Easter Sunday — only to discover that He was not there! It was she who first saw the risen Lord and the first one to announce His glorious resurrection to His disciples.
After the ascension of Jesus into Heaven, Mary Magdalene lived among the early Christians in Jerusalem, but soon was exiled by the Jews and set adrift in a boat with no oars. She landed in France and spent the last years of her life praying alone in a cave.
